Back and gone again

Quick update before I catch up on sleep. =)

Back from Indonesia yesterday, and back to base today to resupply my refrigerator... Haha

Indonesia has the cheapest food one can find... Spent about 600 000 rupiah (works out to about SGD$90) for a seafood feast for a table of 8. =) Had lots of gonggong, clams, prawns, fish, kangkong, local beer, I'd say it was ZHI DE! (Stupid food shows get to me real easily...) Went for a clean massage with the whole lot, then finished off with a few drinks at a KTV lounge... Beer costs about a dollar a can there... Goodness, even heard from some of the other guys that they had standard serving of Bak Kut Teh with the side dishes for SGD$1.50... Mac's costs about 2.50 to under 4 dollars, depending on what you order, and they serve FANTA as an option for drinks there! How vintage is that man~

Spent about $80 there, of which a few dollars from everyone went to the arcade there, where we played extremely aggressive air hockey, and games that gave out coupons for exchanging stuff with... What did we get with 1100+ coupons? About 120 Chupa Chups. =) Considering the cheapest CChups you can find in Singapore is about 40c (if you're darned lucky), 120 Chups would cost about $48? Trust me when I say we spent far less than that... =D Everyone was sucking on something at the end of the day (Don't get sick now, you demented arse)..

Resup was extremely tiring, with so much maintenance to carry out... At least I cleared most of the to-dos, the next few trips will be alot simpler and relaxed. That would give me alot more time to plan the CNY feast they requested... Odd that they'd want a western menu for CNY celebrations... No matter, a good time to showcase my art, prove my mettle; I won't ruin my chances.

Pride, Passion, Perfection.
The way of the Pegasus. =)

Tis' what I live by.

Quickie

Good evening all~

Quick update and post before I leave. =)

Tis' been a good weekend~ Finally caught Le Grand Chef before it comes down from the cinema... Sorry.. I so wanted to catch it at the cinemas so I went ahead to watch it. =P Typical Korean sob story filled with tears and all, bound to tug at the heartstrings of softies... So much it hit me a tiny bit. =P

Watched 27 Dresses as well, a pretty good show, I must say. Contains a tiny bit of adult language, the way I like it. =D~ Also stumbled upon an ole' flame/classmate/crush of sorts... Tis' been nearly 10years since the last encounter, and 7years since last caught sight of her... Well, I must say, she hasn't changed much; filled with confidence with every word she says, a poise carried only by those who are capable enough to, an air of elegance enhanced by her dress sense and visage. Twas' the reason back then. =) Glad to hear that she's fine after all these years, as usual.

Won't be back for another coupla' days. You all take great care of yourselves. I'll be back.

2nd day onboard

Good evening all~

2nd Day of life onboard... Hmm.. Been doing mostly tidying up and cleaning up. The action starts tomorrow. Won't be around for a night or two to update, so be patient people. =) The ship is seriously overstocked... Imagine over 20kgs of coffee powder for a ship that rarely sails more than a few days... Or about 3-5hundred kilos of canned food... Okay maybe a little exaggerated... But seriously, take one look at it and you'll wonder how much expiry contributes to the total food waste onboard... Oh well.

Going to Batam on Monday. Gonna do some shopping =D

Update soon~ Seeya

Sigh sigh sigh

Good evening~

The weekend has been pretty eventful... Started off on Friday... That was the 3rd consecutive day we've been making doughnuts... Damned people just want it like everyday... Don't they get sick of it...? Nonetheless, Friday was a showcase of my ruthlessness in the quest for quality control...

Imagine this, you're working in a kitchen, and you see an adorable furry little mouse, scurrying across your haven. What would you do? Would you:

a) Pick it up and stash it away in the hopes that you've finally found your Remy (Ratatouille),
b) Chase it out the backdoor hoping that no one spots it, or
c) Pick up a ladle of boiling water and empty it over the little adorable mouse.

If you picked anything other than C, you're not cut out for the kitchen.

Yes, you heard me right. You have no other option than to eliminate any pest that sets foot in your kitchen. You let it live the day, it'll bring family the very next. Apparently this other guy found me to be 'chek ark'; he needs to realise that chefs aren't very compassionate people towards roaches and rodents. Neither to poultry, cows and pigs. But don't get me wrong though; I do not kill hamsters kept in cages. Just make sure it's disease-carrying kin stays out of my kitchen.

Twas' a pitiful sight, watching the little thing leap into the air in a futile attempt to get out of harms way, scurrying towards a gas pipe and jumping on, clinging for its very life. It was literally hugging onto the yellow pipe, probably shivering in fear. Sadly, I just reloaded the ladle and proceeded to bathe it brutally. It squealed and squirmed all over the floor, writhing in agonizing pain. It was still alive. I had to put an end to it's misery, the decision for the day clear that it was not going to live to tell the story to it's eventual offspring. It would be far more cruel to discard it handicapped and leave it to starve to death eventually. Putting a stop to it's misery would be a far more humane option. I filled the ladle with boiling doom and ended it all. It squealed its last and lay there, stiff and straight. I offered a silent prayer for its departed soul. It was over.

That was Friday. Was also the day we left Sembawang Naval Base, never to return for the next couple months.
Had sushi at Mura that night. =) Hope you enjoyed it~ I sure did.

Saturday
Was pretty slow... Didn't accomplish much, sad to say, asides from tidying up (becoming a hobby...). Went out to cut my hair, then had dinner at Din Tai Fung @ Tampines Mall. Starting to wonder how much I actually spend on meals per month... Easily upwards of $500? Gotta start trimming a little... Have to admit, I'm pretty much a spender when it comes to food... Don't feel the after effects though.. =P Received news that a friend's mother passed on... Condolences mon ami..

Sunday
Wanted to go for KTV, but last minute events changed everything... Then was supposed to meet another friend for lunch; again, something cropped up, this time with me. After settling my stuff I went down to meet William and gang for badminton from 1500hrs - 1600hrs. Actually went to purchase a racket just to play. At least that would serve as motivation to play more regularly... Haha... Cabbed down to William's place to wait for the next session from 2000 - 2200hrs. =P
1 hour of badminton is never enough. Went home aching and sore from overstretching... The years are catching up on me...

Monday
Today is Mum's birthday! 21012008. Lots to do today. Started by preparing the ingredients for a cake for mum. =) Cream Cheese Pound Cake with Almond Cherry filling and Creme Chantilly frosting? A mouthful indeed... It's just what it is, no fancy names. Fun fun fun~ Baking is addictive, especially if you have an income to sustain it. Bakery can get pretty expensive...
Went for coffee at ٭$ (Starbucks.. =D ), then went home for chilli crab =). Yays~ Guilty as charged of gluttony, I am. I confess and acknowledge that I am a sinner. =P Bought a book of Chinese recipes for just a hair under $10. I so so suck at Chinese cuisine.. =) Still learning, so don't judge me just yet~. The book's going onboard too, hurhur..

Packed and ready to board tomorrow. Hope it'll be smooth sailing (not likely... sea state would kill) and enjoyable. More updates soon~ Gnite

Distance? Painful

You seem distant. You seem different. You seem to do things look at things differently, as compared to the usual Queen. What seems to be the problem now, your highness...? I pray that ALL will be alright for you... Take great care~

Ladida

Hey people. It's been quite awhile...

I've posted out of Sembawang! Where to? Tuas... It just gets further and further... W-t-f... At least I'm drawing my long long overdue Corporal rank like next week. It is officially 5 months overdue...

Anyway, about my posting? I am proud to say that now I'm the Chief Chef for the 2nd Team on RSS Brave =D. My appointment so roxors my boxors. =P (So gonna go to hell for talking like that...) Gotta start planning menus and meals... The lucky bastards will eat well. =) (I hope, haha). Considering that its going to be somewhat a 1-man job for the ship, I guess it'll give me alot of room to improve and advance myself through intense practice. Will get to travel quite a fair deal too, though not very far, with this vessel. Going to Indonesia in a week or so... Fast huh...

A little odd, that only after going down to Sembawang MRT every weekday for the past 5.5weeks, that I realised barely a week ago that there's an extremely well-stocked bakeshop by Phoon Huat there. They sell like every single thing a baker would need, even outfits! Doodled around today, and ended up spending over $70 on miscellaneous equipment and materials. =) I'm gonna have fun this weekend~

Mom's birthday is on Monday. It's an off day for me too, so I guess I'll be tinkering around the kitchen a little. Still thinking what I should make though. It dawned upon me today that I seem to take quite a liking to bakery as well. Its relatively costlier than cooking, but there's just too many events and festivities that call upon baked products and confectionery, much more than main courses. =) Moreover, desserts are pretty related to bakery too. Well, it never hurts to learn more. Gonna register for my Bike lessons tomorrow. Then I'll start rushing practicals =P. Looking forward to so much this year... Let it be a good one.

Darned weather...

Good evening... Nasty weather has hit me hard... Another case of URTI and flu.. damn... Food tends to taste bland when I'm unwell.. Still, life has to go on and bills have to be paid.. =)

Spent most of my day recuperating at home. A big thank you goes out to the nurse who took great care of me and kept me company. =) I appreciate it, thank you~ Tis' uplifting to know that someone cares.

Went out in the evening to settle a little stuff... Gosh, the festive season really puts a huge dent on everyone's wallet... Bills and supplies came up to almost 500$... Phone repair (fcked up reason... Don't bloody ask...), card bill, toiletries, food and ingredients... Yeah, that's about it. I shall dedicate every weekend to tinkering around in my kitchen. =) Practice makes perfect~

Pride, Passion, Perfection.
These 3 words I live by. Pegasus company individuals may find this familiar =) (hint: Company Polo-T, which happens to be my favourite polo).

Honorable mention for the day goes out to the young Lad and the blind man who usually stays between the Tampines MRT station and Tampines Mall. His singing brings tears to my eyes... I guess I'm a huge softie after all. All the best to him; he'll go far if he maintains and improves his skill through practice and passion... Do support him alright? A few bucks never hurt anyone; the gift of giving warms hearts even in freezing weather... I wonder when he'll get talent-spotted.

Oh well, off to rest and recuperate... Take care all~ =)

Sigh... There's just about nothing worse than being unwell near a weekend, but fact is, I'm feeling far worse than just being down with flu and urti.. Tis' all because of matters of the heart. The one place that hurts the most when people with significance aren't feeling exactly the way you wish they would, or when they get emotional and yet doesn't want any help from you... Well... That's life? I'm bailing out, if that's it...

Emo matters aside, at work each day, we wait and wait for our posting... Wondering where we would be sent to, and what awaits us in the year, bright and new. It matters alot where we would get posted to, due to the fact that it affects the amount of time we'd get to spend at home, or close to home. It's either you get to see mom just about everyday, or you'll end up spending the next 5 public holidays overseas...

Also affects the amount of time I'd be able to see you.

Yellowcard Lyrics

Sigh... Memories..

Good evening.

Before I start, let me share with you a pretty interesting phrase.

"Like how men are told not to question a lady's age, a woman shall never question a gentleman's income level"
Quote from: A wise indian man.

I find this amusing, yet pretty just. Keep that in mind, people.

Today I feel that past relationships are indeed haunting, and tend to hit a person when he/she feels low, and that, in turn, makes the person feel lower. Why is this so? Why can't people just forget stuff at his/her free will? Reason is simple.

The environment.

Everywhere you go, everywhere you turn to, there's bound to be places and corners where moments we once shared. Even items; it can be the comb she once used every single morning before going to work, or the toothbrush you used to share every morning (Yes, I'm aware). Even the scent of her perfume that hits you on the train would remind you of the hugs you used to get before leaving for camp/work/school.

Just before I reached home. I saw this really friendly malay auntie neighbour; she'd refer to me as her child (gosh...) and never fails to ask how life has been for me whenever she sees me. Today, she asked again, so I just commented on my career in the RSN now, she just had to ask,"So boy, how's your girlfriend?"

I so so SO wanted to play her this song.

The Vandals - My Girlfriend's Dead

Sigh... Memories.. II

Sigh indeed. Will post more later...

Tis been a long while...Sorry

Good afternoon.. It's been awhile since the update... I'm sorry... Much as been said and done, much has taken place, and plenty of stuff committed in the past 5 days... Interesting indeed...

New Year's Day.
Went bumbling around in the kitchen... Made a few stuff. Part of it for my family, part of it for the Queen. Pretty much a revision session in my opinion. Hope you liked it, glad if you did. =)

The Night of New Year's Day will be eternally etched onto my mind, and kept in my heart. I'll never forget, and I'll always hold it close. It will be done as it is said.

2nd Jan
Tiring day indeed. Little has happened, besides the excessive amount of catchup sleep to be had. Dreamt of events that makes me think, and wonder if that would be what the future has in store for me. Sometimes I wonder, when people say that dreams are merely amplifications of what is in your head at that point of time... So what are dreams then? Clairvoyance? Or merely illusions? No one really knows I guess..

3rd Jan
You called in the middle of the night. I didn't realize.. I'm sorry I went back to sleep. Would have wanted supper, but the Sandman got the better of me.. F*ck you, evil Sandman (not literally..) Were you hungry?

Went down to the shop after work today... Sister's not as bad a nightmare as imagined before. Touched math for the first time in 4years or so; took some time before things started to become familiar. I guess it still was fun as before, and suppose that it (weakness in math =P) runs in the family. =D Practice more. It would help loads.
Twas' a good evening, but Blue Oasis seriously needs a broader selection of main courses. No matter, it will take time I guess, and Dexter, I will be back. Think hard. I will be waiting. Had a good night's rest, though still felt a little lethargic in the morning... Reluctance to leave the bed...

4th Jan
Typical Friday, aye? Somethings never change... Oh well.. Nonetheless, had a pretty good dinner (of sorts...), and exciting conversation... ;P You really like that, don't you. Hope you had a good rest, despite the circumstance. Hugz~ =P

Sunny day. Hope it will be relaxing and enjoyable. Will go swimming I guess. Ciaoz

Brand New?

Good morning everyone. It's 2008. Yeah... Like, it's the New Year, y'all! So very 'whatever'... I find the New Year nothing much more than a Brand New Day, not much of a Brand New Year... The 1st Sunrise of 2008 came at about 0707hrs. Sun of a New Day indeed. That's all about it I guess. Will probably stay home, right in my kitchen. A new beginning should start with a good meal. Or, You shouldn't start the New Year on an empty stomach. What sounds better? Then again, like whatever...
