Good evening~
The weekend has been pretty eventful... Started off on Friday... That was the 3rd consecutive day we've been making doughnuts... Damned people just want it like everyday... Don't they get sick of it...? Nonetheless, Friday was a showcase of my ruthlessness in the quest for quality control...
Imagine this, you're working in a kitchen, and you see an adorable furry little mouse, scurrying across your haven. What would you do? Would you:
a) Pick it up and stash it away in the hopes that you've finally found your Remy (Ratatouille),
b) Chase it out the backdoor hoping that no one spots it, or
c) Pick up a ladle of boiling water and empty it over the little adorable mouse.
If you picked anything other than C, you're not cut out for the kitchen.
Yes, you heard me right. You have no other option than to eliminate any pest that sets foot in your kitchen. You let it live the day, it'll bring family the very next. Apparently this other guy found me to be 'chek ark'; he needs to realise that chefs aren't very compassionate people towards roaches and rodents. Neither to poultry, cows and pigs. But don't get me wrong though; I do not kill hamsters kept in cages. Just make sure it's disease-carrying kin stays out of my kitchen.
Twas' a pitiful sight, watching the little thing leap into the air in a futile attempt to get out of harms way, scurrying towards a gas pipe and jumping on, clinging for its very life. It was literally hugging onto the yellow pipe, probably shivering in fear. Sadly, I just reloaded the ladle and proceeded to bathe it brutally. It squealed and squirmed all over the floor, writhing in agonizing pain. It was still alive. I had to put an end to it's misery, the decision for the day clear that it was not going to live to tell the story to it's eventual offspring. It would be far more cruel to discard it handicapped and leave it to starve to death eventually. Putting a stop to it's misery would be a far more humane option. I filled the ladle with boiling doom and ended it all. It squealed its last and lay there, stiff and straight. I offered a silent prayer for its departed soul. It was over.
That was Friday. Was also the day we left Sembawang Naval Base, never to return for the next couple months.
Had sushi at Mura that night. =) Hope you enjoyed it~ I sure did.
Saturday
Was pretty slow... Didn't accomplish much, sad to say, asides from tidying up (becoming a hobby...). Went out to cut my hair, then had dinner at Din Tai Fung @ Tampines Mall. Starting to wonder how much I actually spend on meals per month... Easily upwards of $500? Gotta start trimming a little... Have to admit, I'm pretty much a spender when it comes to food... Don't feel the after effects though.. =P Received news that a friend's mother passed on... Condolences mon ami..
Sunday
Wanted to go for KTV, but last minute events changed everything... Then was supposed to meet another friend for lunch; again, something cropped up, this time with me. After settling my stuff I went down to meet William and gang for badminton from 1500hrs - 1600hrs. Actually went to purchase a racket just to play. At least that would serve as motivation to play more regularly... Haha... Cabbed down to William's place to wait for the next session from 2000 - 2200hrs. =P
1 hour of badminton is never enough. Went home aching and sore from overstretching... The years are catching up on me...
Monday
Today is Mum's birthday! 21012008. Lots to do today. Started by preparing the ingredients for a cake for mum. =) Cream Cheese Pound Cake with Almond Cherry filling and Creme Chantilly frosting? A mouthful indeed... It's just what it is, no fancy names. Fun fun fun~ Baking is addictive, especially if you have an income to sustain it. Bakery can get pretty expensive...
Went for coffee at ٭$ (Starbucks.. =D ), then went home for chilli crab =). Yays~ Guilty as charged of gluttony, I am. I confess and acknowledge that I am a sinner. =P Bought a book of Chinese recipes for just a hair under $10. I so so suck at Chinese cuisine.. =) Still learning, so don't judge me just yet~. The book's going onboard too, hurhur..
Packed and ready to board tomorrow. Hope it'll be smooth sailing (not likely... sea state would kill) and enjoyable. More updates soon~ Gnite
